I went to see a colleague in the hospital a few weeks ago. Except for his feet being swollen like dinner rolls he looked pretty good. People had sent him fruit including a basket with a whole pineapple in it, kiwi's and avocados. Not sure what a person with a heart problem in the hospital is supposed to do with that??
The hospital was interesting. He was in the Canadian Specialist Hospital, near Wafi City on the way to the airport. It has about 7 rooms. Each is called a ward. He was in Ward 1 which was actually a room with 2 beds and only him. All the fruit was on the other bed - the basket and bags of grapes, peaches and bananas.
The hospital gowns have a bunch of snaps to keep them closed and are much more secure than the US string ties. When I was there, a Filipino nurse was looking out for the 7 rooms. There were a couple of other nurses visible in the main hospital (which included an endoscopy lab). As opposed to US hospital, everyone was really nice.
