
Shortly after T. arrived in Dubai the company celebrated a sales and engineering milestone with a faclonry demonstration for the employees. These are some photos he sent of the events.
Originally one of the few methods for Bedouin tribes to obtain fresh meat, falconry – the training and flying of falcons at wild quarry – enjoys enormous popularity as a national pastime. It is not uncommon to see convoys of trucks with hooded falcons in the back on their way to a hunt, or birds perched casually on the arms of trainers in city streets and souks.
The falcons, peregrines being the favoured breed, have over centuries been trapped on their migration south in the autumn, trained and hunted during the winter months, then released again to travel north to breed during the summer. Falconry has such a devoted following in Dubai that there is even a special hospital for treating injured and ailing falcons.
